#LOOCREW Accessible Events for all

With the ever-growing plethora of events that are on the market for the consumer to choose from, it is more important than ever that events ensure that they are all inclusive and accessible for all.

Within the sanitation industry through 2017 and 2018 there has been a greater drive to ensuring that accessible facilities at all events are:

  1. Accessible! Sounds daft but not all loos are showers are as accessible as people think!
  2. Kept clean and to the highest standards of the whole site
  3. Thinking what accessible facilities may be required… is it just being close to the ground, is it more than that that is required?

The shift has come where event organisers are not just providing thunder box plastic accessible loos within the main blocks of toilets. At LOOS FOR DOs we insist that accessible facilities are positioned behind viewing platforms and within a fenced area. This simple shift means that these toilets are kept only for those that need to use them. A secondary step that we have taken, with the help of Victorious Festival, is to pop a single Eco loo next to the accessible facility. This then allows guests and carers in these areas access to a loo also.

Victorious Festival then took this one step further in 2018 and working with the team at LOOS FOR DOs provided a Mobiloo Facility on the site.  These specialists’ units arrive in site equipped with adult sized changing bench and hoist. The concept is simple, Mobiloo makes an event or venue accessible to the quarter of a million disabled people who would otherwise be stuck at home because of the lack of quality facility and changing areas.
